Welcome at Graiño Team Nederland! A branche of Graiño Team, established in Galicia in 2005. Since 2023 Alex Durán is the representative of Graiño Team in the Netherlands and so formed Graiño Team Nederland.
Alex Durán has been teaching various martial arts disciplines since 2010. He has been active in MMA, Grappling, Wrestling and Sanda for many years.

Hello, I'm Alex Durán
I've been involved in martial arts and combat sports since childhood and continue to practice, compete, and teach today.
Like many kids in the '80s, I started with karate at age seven as an after-school activity, which I continued for a couple of years. At age 12, I decided to dedicate myself fully to martial arts, so I joined the local kung fu academy and trained there for many years. During this time, I earned a 2nd degree black belt, an official coaching certification, and won several medals in different competitions, including Galician and Spanish championships.
Influenced by the early UFC, I joined a training group with practitioners from various martial arts and combat sports who wanted to exchange skills and learn from one another. We trained on weekends, and this was the biggest mind-opening experience of my life regarding martial arts and combat sports.
Later, I briefly trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu before joining Bigu academy, focusing on Luta Livre (Brazilian submission wrestling) and Vale Tudo. After a couple of years, I found my true passion and joined the Galician Wrestling Federation, where I started my own team, Alakram Vermelho. My team and I practiced and competed in grappling (UWW Grappling), MMA, Wrestling, and Sanda, achieving excellent results in Galician, Spanish, and Portuguese competitions.
Currently, I'm practicing and continuing to learn in Catch Wrestling, Olympic Wrestling, Modern Grappling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Judo. I also take private lessons in modern grappling (leg locks), catch wrestling, and Greco-Roman wrestling with three different experts in these sports.
While with the Galician Wrestling Federation, I met David Graiño, founder of Graiño Team, whose professionalism, dedication, and knowledge impressed me. I decided to join his team and am grateful for his guidance as my general coach.
Both I and Graiño Team prioritize continuous learning and growth, so I regularly attend courses with professionals from around the world to further develop my skills.
I'm excited to bring my passion for martial arts and combat sports to Helmond through my recently established academy, Graiño Team Nederland. I look forward to sharing my expertise and helping individuals develop their skills and knowledge in a variety of disciplines. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced practitioner, I'm committed to fostering a supportive and dynamic learning environment where everyone can grow and thrive. Join me on this journey as we build a strong martial arts community together!
